Dear Currents partner, It’s just about three months since we launched Google Currents, and the feedback has been incredible! We were named one of 2011’s top apps by The New York Times, TechCrunch, The Next Web, and Gizmodo (article links at the bottom of this email). We have editions with thousands, tens of thousands, and even hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Users are active and engaged, and they love your editions! We have a few changes coming up, and for these we’ll need your help. Soon, we plan on opening up Google Currents to users around the world. To do so we need to know the language for your edition(s), and where they can be displayed. 1. DEFAULT LANGUAGE. For every edition you own, please go to google.com/producer and set a default language. You can do this in Edition Settings –> Basic Info. Select one language from the « Default language » dropdown menu. 2. INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION. When you distribute your edition to Google Currents, you must specify where in the world your app can be downloaded as we begin to launch Currents outside the US. The default setting is for worldwide distribution, which means that when we launch in other countries, your edition will automatically be available there. To limit this, go to Producer and select Distribute –> International Distribution. Select « Allow specific countries » or « Block specific countries » in the Targeted Distribution dropdown menu, then check the box next to the countries you want to either block from or allow access to your edition. To be clear, right now we are only launched in the US, but we want you to be ready.
